The Sun & a Psalm

Posted on 02. Sep, 2009 by Richard in Video

This show is an excellent study in mixing different formats, mediums and materials. The audio track is a reading from the Bible (recorded over the phone and then treated), the video is a mix of animated still shots and a wide variety of source video. There are AVI files, MOVs, and WMVs all of differing original resolutions and framerates. A great example of smoothly integrating a variety of sources. (more…)

The Moon – A tribute to Apollo

Posted on 02. Sep, 2009 by Richard in Video

We did the full production on this one from concept to final file compression. A mix of video and still images. Note the “flat 3D” effect used to give depth and three-dimensional perspective to the images (see it in action on the first image). Click the button on the right-side of the control bar for a full-screen view. (more…)

The Saints reformed

On news sites everything is always a rush job. We had to edit a slab of video into a sharp three to four minute interview, cut in some archive material, edit out the interviewer, and do some major work on the audio track. "And we need it this afternoon". No problem ! (more…)

Mars & the power of audio

Posted on 02. Sep, 2009 by Richard in Video

How does audio affect the story ? Here’s an example. Take one NASA video of its Mars lander program and add a new soundtrack – a little mood music and excerpts from the original “War of the Worlds” radio broadcast, and suddenly you’ve got something quite different. We made this one just as a bit of fun :-) (more…)

Marque – week 2: no video !

Posted on 02. Sep, 2009 by Richard in Video

What do you do when the client wants a video, but doesn’t give you any video footage to work with ? Worse, all they offer as source files are a series of low-resolution PDF page proofs. (more…)

Marque Magazine

Posted on 02. Sep, 2009 by Richard in Video

We were given a few minutes of raw video and some low-resolution PDF proofs of the magazine and given just two days to come up with the launch video. The result is a fast-paced one-minute promo video with music we wrote specially for the magazine launch (including a synthesised voice saying "Marque"). The sales team liked it so much they played it before every meeting to get them revved up ! (more…)

Dear Leader Kim Jong Il

Posted on 02. Sep, 2009 by Richard in Slideshows

A wonderful contrast here between the North Korean commentator’s joyous prose, and the grim imagery. The audio is an edited version of a North Korean 55th anniversary video. The client expected a simple (and silent) gallery of images, but we sourced a rare North Korean tape and made it into a unique – and almost amusing – presentation. Listen for such gems as “Kim Jong Il turning adversity into favourable situations”. (more…)
